Earth Tattoo: Triple Crescent Moon Offering (2015)

In 2015, Bioneers—an environmental, social, and political organization focused on creating solutions to restore people and the planet—invited Jennifer Zackin to create an earth tattoo for the Bioneers Conference at the Marin Center in San Rafael, CA.

Zackin designed and installed the Earth Tattoo featuring the Triple Crescent Moon symbol, composed of 100 pounds of soil and 20 pounds each of yellow corn, white oats, and brown milo. The  12’ x 12’ installation reflected her vision of transforming the sheet-mulched earth tattoos into future garden sites. Zackin continues to create earth tattoos at other locations, fostering connections between art, community, and the land. In 2016, Zackin initiated Re:Seed Saugerties, an art and community soil building project based on the principles of the Earth Tattoo.
