OHMy (2004–2005)
Katonah town green, Katonah, NY

OHMy was commissioned by the Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah, NY, to celebrate the museum’s 50th anniversary. Installed on the Katonah town green, the work spans a hilly half-mile stretch of road and features 36 trees wrapped in rope, with 16 precisely leveled horizontal lines painted on each tree. Land survey equipment was used to ensure the accuracy of the lines, adding technical complexity to the seemingly simple design.

The creation of OHMy was a community effort, with participation from local residents, including Girl and Boy Scout troops. The work sparked lively debate within the town, even leading to heated arguments in a local dentist’s office as patients passionately discussed its meaning. This controversy confirmed the piece’s success in engaging the community and generating conversation about art.
