Communal Vortex Weave (2019)

The Three Phase Center, Stone Ridge, NY

The first Communal Vortex Weave took place on February 23, 2019, at the Three Phase Center in Stone Ridge, NY, bringing together ten visionary women from the Hudson Valley. Over the course of three hours, participants engaged in a collective action—part ritual, part movement—dissolving the perception of time as they co-created a technicolor torus.

Mathematically, a torus is a three-dimensional ring or doughnut-shaped form through which energy flows. As it spins, a vortex emerges along its central axis—a pattern found throughout the universe, from hurricanes and galaxies to atomic structures. Nikola Tesla’s experiments with energy harnessed this form in the development of his famous coil.

Within this framework, Collective Vortex Weaving explores the energy generated through art as a lived experience. The Vortex Weave process fosters connection, deepens spatial awareness, and expands the potential energy created through weaving. By engaging in communal weaving, participants embody the collaborative spirit necessary to shape the future. Through intentional action, they work toward a healthier, more regenerative world.
